2. Who made God?
If we accept God as Creator of the Universe, then who created the Creator?
If we have an answer to that one then the next question will pop up… Who created the creator’s creator?
And if we had an answer to that one, we will move to the next questions… Who created the creator’s creator?
Get the picture?
If someone created the Creator then we will have to keep on asking the “who created” question forever and a day.
Here’s what the Bible says about the Creator: “In the beginning God…”
The story of Genesis simply states that God created. There is no explanation of where God came from, no postcode, or telephone number, just the fact that God IS. Perhaps this is where our brains begin to boggle. We are finite creatures who live in linear time. Having been born we know that one day we will die. In between these two dates we live out our lives.
God is the Alpha and Omega which means the beginning and the end. Just like a circle has no start or finish, God has no beginning or end.
The only answer to who made God is that there isn’t an answer because the question isn’t valid. God is God and always has been. It is mind blowing but what is the alternative? That the universe came into existence through a spark in space that exploded everything into being? But if there was a spark, who created that spark? If you rub out God because nobody made God, how can you believe that out whole universe came from nothing? Surely something or someone had to kick-start creation.
Which is more credible?
a) That something (namely our beautifully balanced planet earth) came from nothing, that before the ‘Big Bang’ nothing existed until one day something (which didn’t exist because there was nothing) exploded in space (although space didn’t exist because there was absolutely nothing).
OR
b) That there is an infinite being called God who created everything and who is so far above our understanding that the whole human race is like a candle waving in the huge dark expanse of space.
What do you make of it all?
And who made you able to think at all?
And who made…?
I think we get the picture. |
