The Willows Counselling Service

Christians Caring in the Community

Willows is a body of Christians from local churches combining their skills and training with their Christian faith; in order to serve the wider community through the provision of an accessible counselling service.

 Willow

Who is the Counselling Service for?

Willow's purpose is to provide a confidential counselling facility accessible to all adults who live in Swindon and the surrounding area.  The service is offered regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ethnic or cultural background, to people of any fairth, or none.  Anyone who is finding it increasingly difficult to cope with relationships, fear, loneliness, depression etc., and who has realised that they need a confidential level of support and counselling to help them explore their concern and find new directions for positive change, can contact Willows for help.

What does it cost?

Whilst the Counselling Service is offered free of charge, Willows does ask its clients for a contribution towards the cost of their counselling according to their situation and means.  A counselling session costs Willows approximately £25 per hour to provide.

As you can imagine, the full cost of providing this valuable service (currently around £35,000 per annum), is far greater than can possibly be recovered through such donations.  They are increasingly dependent on gifts and grants from a variety of sources to help meet the growing need for the counselling and Christian care that is so important.

How can you help?

Willow's aim, in providing the Counselling service, is to represent Christian caring in the community.  They seek to encourage local Christian collaboration and support in serving Christ by helping others.  You can help as a church or as an individual.  Kainos Christian Fellowship supports Willows financially; through free use of the church office for occasional meetings and where other opportunities arise.  You can also show your individual support by volunteering.  They have around 70 volunteers who support the work in various ways such as office administration or fund-raising.  They very much appreciate and welcome all those offering voluntary help.

Willows also run fundraising events throughout the year which are always well worth attending.  Dates will be publicised as they occur.
